I love your article! Not because you are an Army and I am an Army too, but because of the sharp-witted opinions. You are so right that Journalism at their best, can be live-saving, illuminating and world saving. But what we see from Korea's Journalism is a far cry from this and in fact, the reverse. They have been carrying out Journalism in the worse possible ways and not learning a tiny weeny bit from it. I applaud you for stating the ugly truth, for declaring your love for BTS, for Yoongi in the best possible way. That should be the way how a Journalist works.
Thank you so much for the kind words! I believe so strongly in journalism, it has been the source of my professional life, and we all need to take our jobs seriously. This is not journalism what is happening to Yoongi. It is deliberate lies, slander and abuse of power by the media and the awful people who are coming after him. This punishment does not fit the "crime".
Thank you for the love! I care deeply about my profession and BTS. I hate seeing all of this go down like this. Yoongi is not evil. Not even close. And yet, they act like it for clicks and engagement. It's so wrong.
Just read the article and I loved it. I agree that news should be “the news”; investigated and facts double-checked!
I love BTS. Their antics, songs, and their love for their fans make me happy.
But, let’s put the message out there. “Don’t drink and drive”. Suga’s own statement was that the breathalyzer test showed he blew over the legal limit.
I agree that the spew of hate that has resulted is excessive.
He has apologized: Mea culpa.
Again, Let’s use it for good: “Don’t drink and drive!!
Thank you so much for reading. It's more than double-checking, it's malicious intent from the start, They know what the facts are, but they want to drive controversy for clicks, and therefore enrich themselves off Yoongi's back. As somebody who has lost a friend to a drunk driver, I am all for that message too.
Social "media" used to be a fun tool to connect with friends and acquaintances who weren't near, but still dear. Now it's full of people with agendas hiding behind the convenient anonymity. It sickens me and I wish there was a global will to end this toxicity.
Like anything, sadly, the good can get weaponized for evil. The very social media that BTS so wisely and genuinely used since debut to connect with fans is the same outlet their haters/liars are using to torture them. It's awful.
Thanks so much for this very well-written article! Like all the other true ARMYs out there (I'm international baby ARMY), I've been really impacted by this incident and have been sending non-stop messages of support for Yoongi via Weverse. I was not aware of how toxic the k-pop industry had become. Or maybe I've just been clueless for a long time. Not just k-pop, but SK cultural and social norms in general. Forcing Yoongi to make the dreaded perp walk for such a minor accident was beyond cruel. I've read that the "investigation" is now "closed". I'm naive enough to think things will eventually go back to normal "pre-scooter" life for Yoongi and his success will continue. But then again, I don't live in SK under their laws and cultural expectations. And I doubt the "news" outlets have plans to change the way they "report". Or that the antis will all of a sudden decide to be nice.

Great article! I love this strongly-worded reply from a journalist themselves. Thank you for this! 💜

People think their words or actions on social are not actionable. They are. And more aggressive action to stop bad actors is needed.
